Alison Kennedy

Alison Kennedy’s works combine figuration and abstraction creating a strange sense of depth and physical poetry. “This series of paintings arose from a meditation on mortality and aimed to create a sense of empty, beautiful signifiers drifting across an ambiguous three dimensional surface painted in layers onto tea stained cotton”, says Kennedy. “It builds on techniques developed by Tauba Auerbach, to express a sense of exquisite transcience.”
Following a Graduate Certificate, Kennedy is also currently completing a Masters of Contemporary Art at the University of Melbourne. Kennedy has also practiced as a solicitor and graduate architect, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts/Law and Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) from Monash University and RMIT respectively.
