Christopher Dolman, born in Vancouver, graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Art with first class honours and now lives and works in Sydney. Dolman has been included in several exhibitions in ARIs as well as public institutions including Art on Paper Prize Finalist and Home & Hosed, Hazelhurst Regional Gallery, NSW, (2013) and Eye Candy, Orange Regional Gallery, NSW (2011). He was the recipient of the 2009 VCA Wallara Travelling Scholarship, as well as New Work early career and ArtStart from theAustralia Council for the Arts. Dolman’s cross-disciplinary practice draws on elements of geometric abstraction, pop, and dada, which he infuses with a healthy dose of irreverent and self-referential humour. High and low brow materials are mashed up with ad hoc and traditional artistic methods to examine themes of loss and acknowledge the merits of imperfection and failure.
