Dave McDonald

Dave McDonald takes no prisoners as he cuts, rips and tears at walls, canvas, paper and bronze. His work is primal through the discovery of forms and execution, at times demolishing a wall surface to achieve his ends. He invites viewer interaction with the physical immediacy of the work.
“I like the mind state induced through forced mark making,” he says. McDonald undertook the Williem DeKooning Residency, Long Island New York, 2010. He completed his Masters of Visual Art at the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne in 2011 and a Bachelor of Industrial Design National School of Design, Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, 2004. His solo exhibitions include, ‘Where Will You Spend Eternity?’ Rear View Gallery, Melbourne, 2011 and ‘What We Now Know Resides’, Platform Gallery, Melbourne, 2009.
